Stocks with Unusual Volume
Here are some NASDAQ stocks that are up on unusual volume today. The names and symbols are listed below.
Radiant Systems (RADS:NASDAQ) Shares of RADS are significantly higher on news that NCR Corp.(NCR:NYSE) made a cash tender offer of $28 per share. The play seems to be over, and the arb traders will probably slip in.
Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE:NASDAQ) Shares of CLNE are trading higher on unusual volume because of an agreement with Chesapeake Energy to purchase $150 million in convertible debt. CLNE has obviously rallied today, but shorts could step in later based on the pricing of the convert.
Westport Innovations (WRPT:NASDAQ) Can’t find any news on why this one is up on unusual volume. However, shares have broken out to a short term high and WRPT is one of George Soros’ top holdings.
Pharmacyclics (PCYS:NASDAQ) PCYS seems to simply be another breakout play as it’s staging a nice rally today. However, shares do look a little overbought on a weekly chart basis. Still, lower price breakout buyers fall in love with charts like this one.
Wintrust Finincial (WTFC) Shares are basically following through after a subsidiary of WTFC acquired the assets of First Chicago Bank and Trust. There is some overhead on the upside, but strong support exists at the $30 and $29 levels.
